The freedom of art of Tamara Nesterova would hardly fit the common frameworks. The artist draws her ideas from the world around and speaks about its problems and things that regale the heart and wound the soul. Tamara Nesterova reflects the life through the art while having a gust of the human nature with all its nobility and common feebles.

The new stunning project of Tamara Nesterova, «Deadly Incense», was created as an «artistic weapon» destined to struggle against one of the greatest human evil - the smoking.

The choice of the title of this art-object was not occasional. The author of the project presented a wiredrawn parallel between the traditional interpretation of the word "incense" - as a sweet-scented substance widely used in cultic purposes yet by oracles in Ancient Egypt - and the deadly incense - the cigarette.

The long-lasting creative links with leading fashion artists helped Tamara Nesterova to create such a project that harmoniously comprises the aesthetic taste of the author, the delicately effectuated work, and the marvelous photic and technical decisions.

«Deadly Incense» is an installation representing an ashtray made of glass (45 times magnified), with monitors and an electric meter located inside and started up from the first second of exhibiting of the installation. It counts the time reminding that each 6 seconds smoking kills 1 human in the world.

A heart as a memorial symbol of the deceased and of those who did not choose a healthy life-style is placed inside the installation.

The built-in controller provides the programmed interaction of the devices within the installation (light, sound, smoke, synchronization of the picture). All this enables to stress the attention at the key details of the composition.

The composition consists of materials different in properties and texture and united in one object in order to influence the viewer in complex. The idea of the work is based on its paradoxicality that combines the aggression (demonstration of the naturalistic video - fragments of heart and lungs surgeries), the fragility (delicate glass forms contrasting with the hypertrophied size of the object, open method of assembling the details) and the stylized minimalism (attributes of surgical sterility and the Latin terms - «cardios», «trachea», «ventrikulus», «pulmo» - made in neon).

«Our objective is to attract attention to the problem of smoking by the strength of the art. «Deadly Incense» is not a mere art-object but bears the philosophic meaning that implies the right to choose the way of life,» - declares the artist.
